The Pure Cleanse Pro plan is supposed to help you flatten your belly, clean unwanted toxins out of your body and boost your colon health. This is achieved by cleansing your colon with the Pure Cleanse Pro supplement. Marketers also claim this supplement will improve your colon health and “cure” colon ailments. However, before using any diet pill, consult your doctor, especially if you have a health condition or take medicine.
Procedure
You are supposed to take Pure Cleanse Pro twice daily. You use it 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast and lunch. You also are directed to stop eating after 7:30 p.m., drink at least six 8-ounce glasses of water daily and work out three times weekly for a half-hour per session.
Expert Insight
Colon cleansing will not help you lose weight, as most of your calories are absorbed before food arrives at your colon. Moreover, colon cleansing is ineffective for eliminating toxins from your body, according to Michael F. Picco, a Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist. Environmental toxins are not stored in your gut but in your fat, and cannot be eliminated by colon cleansing, reports the "Los Angeles Times." Your colon mainly contains bacteria – and a colon cleansing product cannot get rid of “bad” bacteria while preserving “good” bacteria, notes Judy Foreman in the June 2008 article “Beware of Colon Cleansing Claims.” Bacteria in your colon naturally metabolize and thus detoxify any food wastes, aaccording to an article by "Boston Globe" health writer Larry Lindner. Also, mucous membranes that line your intestinal wall block unwanted substances so they cannot enter your body's other tissues. Your liver also neutralizes toxins. Foods do not stick to your colon walls and putrefy, either, leaving your colon “encrusted” with waste that can poison your system. Your gastrointestinal tract cells turn over every three days, which is quickly enough that it’s impossible to have putrefying food in your colon.
Warning
Though marketers promise that colon cleansing will improve your health, using a cleansing supplement might have the opposite effect, Picco says. Such supplements can lead to bowel perforations, increase your risk for infection, cause dehydration or cause an imbalance in your electrolytes, which is especially dangerous if you have heart or kidney disease, Picco notes. Dehydration can lead to low blood pressure. The ingredients in herbal supplements also can interact with medications and cause other health problems. The Pure Cleanse Pro company does not disclose its proprietary blend of ingredients on its website or its customer service line.
Considerations
The Better Business Bureau warns you to be skeptical about diet pill claims, especially with a pill that is supposed to flush fat or detoxify, because weight loss requires both diet and exercise. Pure Cleanse Pro enrolls you in a monthly shipment program in which you automatically are charged for the product. You must cancel your subscription to stop the charges. For its business practices, the Better Business Bureau gives Pure Cleanse Pro an F rating. While the bureau notes that the company has responded to and given proper consideration to most complaints, one or more complaints against the company remain unresolved, meaning Pure Cleanse Pro did not address allegations properly or gave an inadequate response. The bureau has received numerous complaints about charges after a free trial although purchasers canceled their subscriptions in a timely fashion.
