Nordic TrackTreadmill 1000 Instructions

The NordicTrack 1000 treadmill is a power treadmill that is designed for home use. You can use the treadmill for walking, jogging or running up to 10 mph. It has a power incline so you can adjust the incline of the deck while you are using the machine, unlike manual treadmills. Consult your physician before beginning an exercise routine on your NordicTrack 1000 treadmill.

Step 1

Place your treadmill in an appropriate, indoor location. Put an equipment mat under the treadmill to protect your floor. Ensure that there is an outlet within reach of your plug. Choose a spot with a flat, level floor space for the treadmill with a minimum or 8 feet of clearance behind the machine. The area you select for the treadmill should not be accessible by pets or children under 12 without supervision.

Step 2

Plug in the treadmill and flip the "on/off" switch. The switch is near the back of the treadmill, near the power cord.

Step 3

Stand on the side rails. Insert the key into the key slot in the center of the bottom portion of the console. Attach the clip connected to the key to your pants or shorts.

Step 4

Enter your weight and age into the console. Press one of the "Weight" buttons to begin entering your weight. Press up to raise the number or down to lower the number until your current weight is shown in the Speed/Pace display on your console. Press the "Weight" buttons to save your weight. Enter your age by pressing one of the "Age" buttons and adjust the number until your current age is shown in the Time/Laps display space on the console. Set your age by pressing the "Age" buttons again.

Step 5

Select the manual mode on your display to get started. Press the "Start" button, which should make the belt move. Hold the handrails for balance and step onto the belt.

Step 6

Increase the speed and incline slowly so you can adjust to it. Use the "Speed Up" or "Speed Down" buttons and the "Incline Up" or "Incline Down" buttons on the console to change your speed and incline.

Step 7

Walk or run for your desired amount of time. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend 30 minutes a day, five days a week of physical activity. Lower your speed and incline to 1 percent when you are done with your workout. Step onto the side rails. Press the "Stop" button to stop the belt.

Step 8

Get off the treadmill and remove the clip from your clothing. Take out the safety key and unplug the treadmill. Flip the switch into the off position.
