If cupcakes are cuter, smaller versions of a standard size cake, then miniature cupcakes are an even smaller, cuter version of a standard cupcake. A good cupcake has a soft spongy interior that is warm and moist. Unfortunately, it's far too easy to sacrifice this necessary texture by baking miniature cupcakes at a temperature and time customary for regular sized cakes and cupcakes. Mini cupcakes require a slight adjustment in oven time and temperature.

Preheat the oven to the standard temperature for baking cupcakes, 350 degrees. Wait until the oven indicates it has reached this exact temperature.

Pour the cupcake batter into each individual cupcake indentation on the tray. Lower the oven temperature by 20 degrees. Allow the oven a minute to adjust down to this temperature then insert the tray of cupcakes.

Bake the cupcakes for 10 minutes then check them by sticking a toothpick in the middle of one of the cupcakes in the center of the rack. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cupcakes are done. If it doesn't come out clean, let the cupcakes bake for another five minutes and test again.
