Nutrition Information for Wok 'n Roll Bourbon Chicken

Bourbon chicken is a popular chicken dish named after the famous Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the bourbon whiskey that is used to make the recipe. It is commonly available at Chinese and Cajun restaurants. Most cities in the United States, including Washington, Chicago, Orlando and Baltimore, have restaurants by the name Wok ‘n Roll. Most of them are independently owned and serve a wide range of Chinese and Japanese food.

Bourbon Chicken

The specialty sauce for the recipe is made from tangy bourbon whiskey, soy sauce, ginger and brown sugar. The chicken breasts usually are marinated in the sauce for two to three hours, then grilled or cooked in the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit and served with white rice, fried rice or vegetables.

Calories

There may be some variation in the calorie content of Wok ‘n Roll chicken bourbon depending on the individual restaurant, portion size and the chef’s recipe. However, a typical serving with fried rice may contain around 500 calories, according to the website MyFitnessPal. At the same time, one portion size of chicken bourbon served by the Salisbury University Dining Services has only 62 calories.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates or sugars are an important source of energy in your body and make up for the majority of calories you get from this dish. All of these carbohydrates are sugars. The amount of fiber is negligible.

Fats

Wok ‘n Roll chicken bourbon also contains significant amounts of fat in it. This includes both the unhealthy saturated fatty acids and the healthier unsaturated ones. There are no trans fats in bourbon chicken, but the cholesterol content is high.

Protein

If you eat meat for the protein found in it, bourbon chicken won’t disappoint you. It is a rich source of protein and, similar to all animal protein, is made up of complete protein, which has all the essential amino acids that you require from the diet.

Micronutrients

Sodium is the major mineral found in Wok ‘n Roll chicken bourbon. Other nutrients such as potassium, calcium, vitamin A and vitamin C are not found in significant amounts. It may contain small amounts of iron. Hence, it is important for you to balance this dish with fruits, vegetables and high-fiber foods for a complete, healthy meal.
