Thyroid hormone is an essential hormone that helps regulate your metabolism, energy levels and body temperature. Medications that contain thyroid hormone or stimulate your body's own thyroid production are used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition associated with low thyroid hormone production in your body. Young Living produces two oil supplements that purportedly support your metabolism and thyroid function. However, the effectiveness of these supplements has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA. Always consult your doctor before taking any over-the-counter herbal supplements.

Step 1

Take one to two capsules of the Young Living Thyromin capsules every day. Young Living Thyromin capsules contain many natural ingredients and is claimed to support a healthy thyroid function. Thyromin contains a blend of thyroid powder, amino acids L-tyrosine and L-cysteine, bovine pituitary and adrenal extracts, and many essential oils, such as peppermint, spearmint and myrtle.

Step 2

Dilute 1 drop of Young Living Sage Essential Oil with 4 drops of olive oil and take once a day or as directed by a health professional. Young Living Sage Essential oil is claimed to support metabolism, as well as your respiratory, reproductive and nervous systems. The supplement contains an undisclosed therapeutic-grade dosage of sage oil.

Step 3

Use Young Living Sage Essential Oil topically by diluting 1 drop with 4 drops of olive oil. Apply to the desired area of your body.

Tips and Warnings

  • Although Thyromin is claimed to promote thyroid function, it is not intended to treat or prevent any health conditions, such as hypothyroidism. Thyromin might increase your thyroid function, but this claim has not been proven or evaluated by the FDA.
  • You should not take these supplements if you are pregnant, nursing or taking certain medications. Consult your doctor about benefits and side effects that taking these medications can cause. The U.S. National Library of Medicine warns that taking thyroid medications without hypothyroidism can cause serious or life-threatening side effects and should never be used as a weight loss supplement.
