Mangoes are tropical fruit that grow in Hawaii, Africa, Florida and other tropical locations. Although no diet involves the use of Hawaiian mangoes specifically, adding the nutritional fruit to your diet can help you lose weight when part of an overall low-calorie diet. Identification

Mangoes are originally native to India and Southeast Asia, but the mango tree now grows in many tropical locations around the world. Because the fruit needs warm weather to grow, the only places in the United States where mangoes thrive are Florida, Puerto Rico, California and Hawaii. Mangoes have different uses other than food. Soaps and lotions use the seed fat because of the high stearic acid content. Dried mango flowers might also have some antibiotic properties and help treat diarrhea, fever and hemorrhoids.

They contain 100 percent of your recommended dietary value of vitamin C, which can aid in boosting your immunity. Hawaiian mangoes contain 20 other essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A. The fruit is a good source of fiber. Mangoes are also low in calories and have virtually no fat.

Diet

Hawaiian mangoes can be part of a healthy diet to help you lose weight. Because mangoes are high in dietary fiber, they help you feel fuller longer and prevent you from overeating. Replace your typical breakfast with Hawaiian mangoes to reduce your overall caloric intake.
