Reflexology connects two seemingly unrelated conditions by offering an alternative form of treatment. Candida is a term that describes a genus of yeast. It normally resides in the body within the ears, vagina and other areas. Tinnitus is a condition in which one experiences ringing in the ear, among other symptoms. It is commonly associated with damage caused by exposure to loud noise or simply age-related hearing loss. Reflexology can provide relief for tinnitus associated with Candida.
Cannida Overgrowth
Cannida can become a medical issue if the yeast builds up to abnormal levels, a condition known as candidiasis. This build-up creates pressure within the ear, causing a host of symptoms. If you have candidiasis, you may experience tinnitus, fluid in the ear and ear pain. It can also increase your risk of infection. Tinnitus presents other complications that can worsen your quality of life. Some people may feel fatigued or stressed. Others may experience sleep disturbances or memory problems.
What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient practice that goes back thousand of years. In Western culture, it began in the 1890s and became a form of treatment in the 1930s. The practice involves applying pressure to certain parts of the body, following specific techniques. Hand and foot reflexology are common forms. However, the Reflexology Association of America using this technique on the outer ears, as well. The concept is that areas of your hands, feet and ears correspond to other structures in your body. By applying pressure, reflexologists believe they can promote healing.
Complementary Treatment
Reflexology can address some of the symptoms that may accompany tinnitus caused by candidiasis as a complementary form of treatment. The pressure can help relieve the stress and anxiety that may occur with tinnitus. Specific techniques relieve pressure in muscles by stimulating the nervous system. Unlike massage, reflexology uses small movements on specific identified points on the body called a reflex map.
Blood Flow
Another way reflexology can provide relief from candidiasis-caused tinnitus is through improved blood flow. The pressure places on different points on the body can speed blood flow to affected areas. This action can promote healing by increasing circulation. White blood cells can flow more quickly into a site as part of the body's immune response. With increased blood flow, white blood cells can attack the Candida to help your body overcome its ill effects. Used with standard medical treatment, reflexology can provide additional benefits for relieving your symptoms.
