While Vyvanse and HCG injections do not have any recorded interactions, you might not want to use the HCG diet if you are taking Vyvanse, which is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. The HCG diet reduces calories drastically, boosting hunger, which further impairs your ability to concentrate. You should always follow your doctor's advice for proper dieting and supplementation while on Vyvanse.

Vyvanse

Vyvanse is the brand name for lisdexamfetamine, a medication used to treat ADHD in older children and adults, according to the National Institutes of Health. It is a central nervous system stimulant that alters your brain chemistry to help control symptoms, such as difficulty focusing and controlling impulses.

HCG Diet

The HCG Diet is a weight loss program that combines injections of the HCG hormone with a very-low-calorie diet. HCG, or human chorionic gonadtropin, is a hormone produced by the human body; it is typically used to treat infertility. The HCG diet is generally considered to be ineffective over the long term, with most individuals regaining weight lost through the diet.

Vyvanse and HCG

While Vyvanse and HCG have not been shown to interact negatively, that does not necessarily rule out the possibility that they could interact negatively in some cases. Before taking these two medications together, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. Vyvanse is prescribed to combat a disorder that makes it difficult for you to concentrate; when combined with a very-low-calorie diet -- such as the HCG diet -- which leads to hunger and difficulty concentrating, your ADHD symptoms might worsen.

Interactions with Vyvanse

While Vyvanse does not have any recorded interactions with HCG, it can be problematic when taken in conjunction with certain other drugs, such as antidepressants and stomach acid reducers. It can also interact with blood pressure medications, diuretics, and cold and allergy medications. Before beginning a new medication, discuss all medications you are taking with a pharmacist to prevent negative interactions.

Side Effects of HCG

The HCG Diet also can have negative side effects, in addition to its potential ineffectiveness as a long-term weight loss aid. The injections can cause headaches, fatigue, irritability and male breast growth, according to the Mayo Clinic. In addition, the extremely restrictive diet can make it difficult to be well-nourished, leading to vitamin and other nutritional deficiencies.
