Exercise can help improve mood and stamina, and lower the risk of several chronic conditions, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Most experts and health care professionals, therefore, recommend regular exercise to improve quality of life in individuals of all ages and abilities. Bruises and injuries, especially of the knee, are common during workouts and exercise. Proper posture and protective gear are important to avoid side effects associated with exercise.

Knee Injuries

Running, flexing, twisting and bending the knees during workouts and physical activity can lead to a variety of knee injuries, such as stiffness, pain and creakiness. Women are more prone to such injuries compared to men due a naturally large pelvis. Inflammation of the tendons joining the knee bones and autoimmune diseases such as osteoarthritis can also increase the risk of knee injuries. Falling can lead to bruising of the skin, which if left untreated may lead to infections.

Leggings are a type of fitted pants that help cover knees and legs, and may thereby help prevent superficial knee injuries. They are usually made of stretchy materials such as spandex, Lycra and nylon that offer you great flexibility and movement during the workout. They're reasonably priced and easily available at most clothing stores, and come in several colors and patterns to suit your style.

Pants with Knee Pads

You may also consider buying yoga pants or capris with stitched-in knee pads. These pants are slightly expensive and may cost around $50 to $60, depending on the manufacturer and the quality of the fabric. The pants may provide comfort from achy knees during a workout without discomfort associated with thick knee pads worn over the pants. The stitch around the knee pads also prevent the pads from slipping down during the workout.

Arthritis Clothing

Arthritis is one the most common disability in the United States. Regular exercise is often one of the best ways to overcome some of the symptoms of the condition. Workout pants for arthritis patients are easy to wear, such that they don't cause injury while wearing them and during workout. They also promote easy movement of the knees.

Tips

Although protective pants for knee can support the knee and lower the risk of knee injuries, remember that they don't protect you from internal injuries and complications associated it with. Hence, talk to a doctor and consult your trainer before starting a new exercise regimen to check if it would works for you.
