Broward County, situated in the southeast portion of Florida, is home to more than 1.7 million residents and includes many cites and towns. Some of the bigger cities are Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines and Miramar. Whether your family lives in the county or plans to vacation there, you'll find an array of kid-friendly indoor activities to choose from when Mother Nature prevents you from enjoying the outdoors.

Museums

Take your family to visit some of the museums in Broward County such as the Young At Art Museum (youngatartmuseum.org) in Davie. This 55,000 square-foot museum features hands-on kids activities such as Alice's Pool, Puppet Theater, Alice's Art and Games, and Art Passport. Kids can also participate in art classes and art camps at this location. You could also visit the Museum of Discovery and Science (mods.org) in Fort Lauderdale. Make your way through exhibits such as the EcoDiscovery Center, Go Green, Runways to Rockets and Powerful You! Catch a movie while you're there on the five-story high IMAX screen. Special events take place throughout the year, as do camps and special programs for kids.
