Georgia Campgrounds With Full Hookups

Georgia Campgrounds With Full Hookups

Explore America's Campgrounds

Georgia is home to hundreds of campgrounds that provide quiet, secluded accommodations for tents and RVs, but full-hookup sites are relatively hard to come by. That being said, campsites with complete water, sewer and electrical hookups are not impossible to find. A handful of destinations in every corner of the state have full-hookup sites, from the rugged slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the sunny shores of the coastal plains.

Mountains Region: Unicoi State Park

Nestled among the mountains in the northeastern corner of the state, Unicoi State Park includes more than 100 campsites, about a dozen of which have full hookups. Sites with only water and electric hookups are also available, as are primitive tent sites, rustic cabins and fully furnished lodge rooms. The campground includes modern restrooms, hot showers, laundry facilities and an RV dump station. During your stay, you can explore 8 miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails or go swimming, fishing, canoeing or kayaking on Unicoi Lake. A current Georgia fishing license is required to fish the lake. You can make campground reservations by phone and through the official Georgia State Parks website.

Piedmont Region: Lock and Dam Park

The foothills of the Appalachian Mountains cover a vast swath of central Georgia, and this area -- often referred to as the Piedmont region -- is popular with campers. Lock and Dam Park, just outside the city of Rome, is one of the few campgrounds to provide full hookups. Water, sewer and electricity are available at about half the park's 30 campsites, while the remainder are primitive non-electric tent sites. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring, along with easy access to hot showers, modern restrooms and laundry facilities. The park overlooks the Coosa River, one of the best spots for crappie and striped bass fishing in the state, and includes boat ramps and a fishing pier. The Coosa River Trading Post, located in the park, sells bait, tackle, fishing licenses, snacks and drinks. Contact the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority for campsite reservations.

Plains Region: Reed Bingham State Park

At Reed Bingham State Park, in the Plains region of south Georgia, 18 of the 46 campsites have full hookups, as well as cable TV. All campers have access to modern restroom and shower facilities. A small lake in the 1,600-acre park includes a swimming beach, boat rentals and fishing pier. Seven miles of trails wind through the wooded landscape around the lake, where you're likely to spot turtles, alligators, bald eagles and other wildlife. You can reserve a campsite by phone or through the Georgia State Parks website.

Coastal Region: Country Oaks Campground

Situated a few minutes from the coast and right across the St. Mary's River from Florida, Country Oaks RV Park and Campground provides 44 full-hookup RV campsites. In addition to water, sewer and electric hookups, the campsites have high-speed wireless Internet, showers, restrooms and laundry machines. The campsites are shady and wooded, and the 5-acre property includes a stocked fishing pond, horseshoe pits and a library at the main office. The campground is minutes away from local attractions such as St. Simons Lighthouse and Cumberland Island National Seashore. You can reserve a campsite by phone and choose from nightly, weekly and monthly rates,
