Types of Event Insurance

Event insurance is a specialty type of coverage that protects you in case of problems during your special event. Events typically covered in an event insurance plan are weddings, fundraisers, meetings, parties, sporting games and school events. The type of event insurance you take out will depend on how much monetary protection you require as well as which inclusions you want in your policy.

Business Event Liability

This type of insurance coverage is available for certain business-related events such as business dinners, meetings, conferences and fundraisers. If a bodily injury or property damage occurs at the event and you are deemed liable, the event insurance plan will pay out benefits. If alcohol is being served, optional liquor liability insurance will likely be available at an additional cost.

Private Event Liability

If you are hosting a private event such as a birthday party or bar mitzvah, you might want to take out a private event liability plan to protect your investment. A liability plan makes sure you won't lose money in case you are sued for property damage or personal injury that occurs during your private event.

Bad Weather Insurance

Rain and snow insurance is a type of special event coverage that can help reimburse you for monies lost in the event of rain or snow. Events that can benefit from this type of policy are weddings, fairs, festivals, golf tournaments, parades and outdoor concerts. For benefits to be paid, rain or snow must occur during the event.

Wedding Insurance

You can take out a special event insurance policy to protect any money you put toward a wedding. Inclusions within this policy are to reimburse you for monies put toward the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception. Other items can be insured under this type of policy as well, including photographer/videographer deposits, rented property, special wedding attire, jewelry and gifts. Event insurance for weddings is typically tailored to the applicant's specific needs.
