Undereye circles become more common as you age, but can be camouflaged or even eliminated, depending on your budget. Undereye circles are bruised capillaries that leave a dark circle under the eye. There are many ways to either camouflage or repair the capillaries underneath the delicate undereye skin. Over-the counter creams and the more expensive Hylexin are effective ways of combating undereye circles effectively.
Cosmetic Creams
Over-the-counter creams that claim to eliminate undereye circles can be effective, you use them consistently. These creams range anywhere from $8 to $25, depending on the brand, although they can only combat problems to a cosmetic degree. Brand names are plentiful, although the top brands are usually the most effective.
Vitamins
According to Dr. Nicolas Perricone, MD, the popular dermatologist and author of the bestselling book, "The Perricone Prescription," DMAE, vitamin C ester and alpha lipoic acid vitamin creams are effective in combating undereye circles over a few weeks time. Taking these vitamins and avoiding sugar, according to Perricone, will result in an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin, decreasing unsightly signs of age. Look for undereye creams with these ingredients.
Makeup Camoflage
There are several makeup tricks to use for brightening the undereyes, as well as the entire face. Applying a white eyeshadow or pencil, starting at the inner tear ducts of the upper eyelids, and covering the entire upper eyelid will brighten the face and give a younger appearance. Choose an undereye concealer a few shades lighter than your foundation. Blemish concealers with a yellow tinge will offset the purplish tone of the undereye circles, so shop for a slightly yellow base for your concealer for the undereyes.
