The way in which you stop back hair growth ultimately depends on your wallet. You first need to decide how much you're willing to spend to rid your back of hair. Once the price range is determined, you can look at the procedures that fall within those numbers. The more expensive the procedure, the more like the results will be long lasting.
Step 1
Consider shaving the hair on your back. If your budget doesn't allow for much more, you can always shave the hair on your back with gel or cream and a razor. The effects are relatively short-term, and it won't stop the hair from growing on your back, but you can have hair-free skin whenever it matters most.
Step 2
Invest in a depilatory product. Like shaving, depilatory creams or ointments won't stop back hair growth permanently, but they're a cheap option for hair removal. Rub the cream on any area of the back with hair growth, and you can expect the hair to essentially melt away. The effects are bit longer lasting than what you'll get from a razor, yet you'll still need to periodically apply the cream for best results.
Step 3
Try having your back waxed. Warm wax is spread onto the areas of the back with hair growth and a cloth is laid atop it. As the wax cools, the hair embeds within it. Once the wax is fully set, the cloth is yanked from the body, removing the hair from your back. The effects are even longer than depilatories and shaving, but it's not permanent. Follow up visits are necessary to keep up the appearance of your hair-free skin.
Step 4
Talk to your dermatologist about electrolysis. In this method of hair removal, a needle administers an electrical current into the actual follicle of your hair. The electricity damages the root so it can no longer grow a hair. This is obviously a permanent method to stop back hair growth. But depending on the amount of hair you have on your back, this procedure could take a great deal of time, as each follicle is done separately and costs a sum of money.
Step 5
Discuss the option of laser hair removal to rid your back of hair. In this procedure, impulses of light are directed over patches of skin with hair growth. The wavelengths destroy the hair follicle and can cease growth for long periods of time. However, it is only effective on hair that isn't currently growing, so you'll often need a number of treatments to see results.
Tips and Warnings
- Make sure to discuss any possible side effects you may experience from any of these products or procedures with a doctor. Fairly sensitive skin may react quite differently than other skin types, so use caution with any type of hair removal system.
