Health Benefits of Almond Oil

Almond oil is one of the most versatile and widely used oils on the market. It can be used, not only as a carrier oil, but a massage oil as well. Almond oil is very soothing to the skin and works as an excellent moisturizer without leaving the skin feeling slick or greasy. Almond oil is full of vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids. Because of its slow absorption time, it works well to moisture the skin during a massage. It allows time for a thorough massage without having to constantly reapply lotion.

Massage Oil

Because of almond oil's emollient qualitites, it is an excellent massage oil. It soothes and conditions skins. It absorbs slowly, so less is needed to be applied during the massage. Almond oil is very light and will not make the skin greasy or slimy. Almond oil also nourishes the skin. Essential oils can be mixed with almond oil to add extra benefits though aromatherapy.

Carrier Oil

People who use essential oils know that most have to be diluted because when used full strength, reactions can occur. Almond oil makes an excellent carrier oil for diluting essentials. It has little or no odor and is lightweight enough that it will not overwhelm the skin. Almond oil is also known to carry fragrances for a long period of time.

Soothing Properties

Almond oil can soothe itching and irritated skin and relieve inflammation. It makes an excellent muscle liniment when peppermint or camphor is added. When mixed with a few drops of lavender it can be used to sooth itching from bug bites.

Sweet Almond Oil

Food grade sweet almond oil can be used in cooking and for internal use. It is high in oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids, vitamin E, plant-based proteins and micronutrients.
