How to Lose Weight in Less Than 1 Month

There are several different ways to lose weight in less than one month. Finding a method that works for you depends on how much weight needs to be lost. Diet and exercise is always an option when trying to shed pounds. However, alternative methods such colonics or surgical procedures can help, too. Talk with your doctor to determine how much weight is safe for you to lose, then choose a method that works for you.

Step 1

Try diet and exercise first. Even the slightest modifications to your current regimen can have a profound effect on weight loss. For example, drink skim milk instead of whole milk, cut out junk food, use sugar alternatives, jog instead of walking, or add weight training to your program. Be mindful of your caloric intake. If you burn more calories than you consume, you will definitely lose weight. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends no less than a 1,200-calorie daily diet combined with 20 to 60 minutes of cardio three to five days per week for weight loss.

Step 2

Lose weight by cleansing or getting a colonic. No matter which one you choose, the object is to rid your body of excess weight by cleaning out fecal matter in your intestines. Cleansing requires adhering to a strict diet usually consisting of vegetables, fruit and water. Supplements or herbal concoctions are consumed each day of cleansing to help the body dispose of the waste, kind of like a laxative.

A colonic is when the colon is irrigated with fluid to remove fecal waste. This procedure is something like an enema, but should be performed by a certified colon hydro therapist. Talk with a hydro therapist before having this procedure to discuss the pros and cons, and to see if this procedure is right for you.

Step 3

Consider taking oral weight loss prescriptions such as Meridia, Phentermine or Orlistat if you have a significant amount of weight to lose. Drugs such as these are recommended for obese or severely obese people. These supplements act as appetite suppressants or inhibit fat from being ingested by the body. Although these prescriptions produce weight loss, serious side effects can occur. For example, high blood pressure, increased heart rate, dry mouth, impaired thinking or insomnia are just a few. Consult with your doctor to determine if you qualify for these types of prescriptions. Never borrow or try medications that are prescribed for someone else.

Step 4

Consult your primary doctor to discuss the option of weight loss surgery. Depending on how much weight you are trying to lose, you may opt for something like gastric bypass, lap band or liposuction. Weight loss surgeries range from altering the size of your stomach, controlling how much food can reach the stomach or by removing fat deposits from under the skin with surgical instruments. These procedures can produce a 5- to 50-lb. weight loss or more in less than a month.
