There are many different ways to remove hair from your back. Products and procedures range in price from a few bucks to hundreds of dollars. But to actually stop this hair from growing, it'll take a bit of an investment in time and money.
Step 1
Talk to a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon about laser hair removal. This cosmetic procedure provides more permanent results. Waves of intense light are targeted onto unwanted patches of hair, destroying the follicle and stopping hair growth. However, laser hair removal only destroys those follicles growing hair, so any hair in its resting phase isn't affected by the procedure. You'll need a series of treatments, approximately six to eight, according to the Mayo Clinic. After that, yearly maintenance is often necessary.
Step 2
Invest in a home laser hair removal system. These small devices work under the same principles as professional laser hair removal tools. Beams of intense light damage the follicles, forcing them to go dormant for a prolonged period. If you choose this method to stop hair growth, make sure to strictly follow directions.
Step 3
Consider electrolysis, the only form of hair removal considered permanent by the Food and Drug Administration. To remove the hair, a needle is used to direct an electrical current into the follicle to destroy it. Each hair must go through this process for the hair to stop growing, so a number of sessions may be necessary if your back has a great deal of hair.
Step 4
Steer clear of home electrolysis kits. Though these tools are available for purchase, improper use can lead to permanent scarring and may not stop hair from growing.
