Acne can be a horrifying skin blemish, but the scars it leaves behind can be permanent reminders of your skin troubles. Bad acne can leave pockmarks or other visible marks and make you self-conscious about your skin. While makeup can easily be the cause of your acne problems, properly using makeup can keep your skin clean while hiding your acne scarring and make you more confident about your skin.
Step 1
Apply a water-based moisturizing lotion to the skin before applying any makeup.
Step 2
Rub a thin layer of face primer into your skin. This will help hold your makeup to your face and will also fill in divots created by acne. After the first layer sets (give it 15 to 20 minutes) apply another thin layer.
Step 3
Use a full-coverage concealer that is one shade darker than your skin. Using a darker concealer will help conceal the dark marks created by acne scarring. Apply the concealer by dabbing with a brush on the scarred areas. Smooth out the concealer with a wet sponge, then repeat this process once more.
Step 4
Apply a translucent powder to set your makeup. Give it a few minutes to set, then apply a final layer of foundation to finish your makeup.
