Side Effects of Lovenox Shots

Lovenox shots (generic name: enoxaparin injections) is a blood thinning medication used to prevent blood clot formation. Blood clots can lead to deep vein thrombosis (condition of leg pain), pulmonary embolism (clots in the lung), heart attack or a stroke.

Mild Side Effects

According to Drugs.com, Lovenox can cause diarrhea, nausea, swelling of your extremities and swelling or redness at the injection site.

Bleeding

Lovenox thins your blood and makes you prone to all sorts of bleeding. You can have bloody stools or urine. You can sustain a minor injury and profusely bleed.

Neurological Problems

Lovenox can affect your brain and spinal cord and cause headache, confusion, problems seeing and unsteadiness. It can also lead to numbness and tingling.

Heart and Circulation Problems

Lovenox can cause chest pain, bradycardia (slow heartbeat) and a weak pulse.

Other Side Effects

Lovenox can also cause easy bruising, a cough, muscle weakness. It can also cause pain in your legs, says Drug.com.
