1. Cleaning a Bowflex
Clean the Bowflex equipment with a non-abrasive cleaner after every use. Any gentle cleaner or soap works well. Do not use automotive interior cleaner. These cleaners make the surfaces too slick, which can cause injuries during your next workout. Wiping down the Bowflex after every use keeps it in top condition, and prevents residue from sweat from building up. To make cleaning your Bowflex more convenient, keep a spray bottle of mild soap mixed with water and soft cloths stored near the machine. This prevents having to search for cleaners after a workout, and you can just leave the bottle there and put the cloth in the laundry after you've finished.
2. Storage
When you're not using your Bowflex, disconnect all the cables from the Power Rods. Store the rods in their binding straps to keep them all together. Keep all the cables used for the lat tower in the special storage area located in the upper left lat tower area. This keeps the equipment out of the way. Store the squat cables when they aren't in use in order to reduce the chance of injury from them being in the way. Storing a Bowflex is easy, since Bowflex incorporated all the storage into the machine.
3. Pulleys and J-Bolts
Metal parts, such as pulleys and j-bolts, wear over time. Once there are grooves in them, there is a possibility they will snap. To avoid injury from this, check the j-bolts and pulleys to make sure they are in good condition. It is normal for the black paint to be worn off, but if there are any indentions over 1/16 of an inch deep, it's time to order replacement parts for your machine. Under extreme stress caused by heavy weights, these damaged parts can break. Maintaining a Bowflex machine by scouting out dangerous possibilities is necessary for your safety.
4. Hand Grips and Straps
Check all the hand grips and the straps for loose stitching or threads. In order to identify a damaged thread, pull on it. If it comes loose, replace it. Do not use it if it has loose stitching or threads. There is a chance the strap could break during lifting without warning and cause serious injury.
5. Parts and Assistance
To order parts for your Bowflex, you have a few options. The store that sold you your Bowflex also either carries the parts for the machines or can order them for you. Bowflex parts replacement is available by calling (800) 216-9028 or by visiting their website at www.bowflex.com. While waiting for your parts, do not use your machine, as injury can result. Maintaining the Bowflex prevents injury and keeps the machine working just like the day you bought it.
