How to Lose 5 Pounds in 5 Days

Losing 5 lbs. in five days has a lot to do with water weight. Real, sustainable weight loss comes from burning calories by reducing food intake and increasing physical activity. While you can burn some serious calories in five days by following a sound diet and exercise plan, you may find it difficult to burn enough to lose 5 lbs. of body weight. By focusing on decreasing water weight and burning as many calories as possible, you can lose 5 lbs. in just five days.

Step 1

Do as much high-intensity cardiovascular exercise as possible on each of your five days. Perform cardio sessions first thing in the morning on an empty stomach or before going to bed. Feel free to split your exercise into several daily sessions, as the effect is cumulative.

Step 2

Follow a low-carbohydrate diet. Eat only lean proteins and healthy fats, divided into five or six small meals throughout the day. Take in your one 50g serving of carbohydrates, for example, 1 cup of oatmeal, first thing in the morning. Get enough fiber to avoid problems with regularity (about 25g per day).

Step 3

Take a multivitamin to replace the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients missed due to this extreme five-day diet.

Step 4

Include natural diuretics to help eliminate excess water weight. Vitamin C, potassium, dandelion root, uva ursi, grapefruit extract and hydrangea root are examples of natural substances that promote water loss. Or try Xpel by MHP or Cuts II from Prolab. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Step 5

Take a protein supplement that provides 15 to 20g of protein per serving, such as whey protein or liquid amino acids. Use your protein supplement as a snack between meals to help fight hunger and keep metabolism going strong.

Step 6

Try a distilled water-only fast for the first 24 hours to help kick off your fast weight-loss plan. "The Miracle of Fasting" by Paul C. Bragg also recommends using the apple cider vinegar health drink to eliminate hunger, speed weight loss and cleanse the body of toxins.
