How to Remove Cellulite Without Surgery

Cellulite is trapped fat that creates an orange peel appearance on the skin. People who accumulate cellulite often turn to surgery for removal, but this can come with side effects, and it can be expensive. If you want to avoid surgery, understand that cellulite cannot be eliminated altogether. But by following some key steps involving diet and exercise, you can make it a lot less noticeable.

Step 1

Clean up your diet to include foods that are high in nutrients. Eat fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, lean meats, whole grains, low-fat dairy products and beans. Avoid foods that are high in sodium, processed sugars and saturated fats.

Step 2

Reduce your overall daily intake of food. Eat 350 to 500 calories less than you normally do to promote weight loss.

Step 3

Flush toxins out of your system by drinking water. Make it your only beverage, and aim for at least 10 cups a day. Drinking water can also spare you calories and keep you hydrated.

Step 4

Reduce the size of your meals and space them two to three hours apart to increase your metabolism. Include protein and high-fiber carbohydrates in every meal. A bowl of steel-cut oats made with low-fat milk is a meal example.

Step 5

Stimulate circulation by exfoliating your skin. Use a soft-bristled body brush or loofah while you are in the shower. Go in circular or upward motions, and start with the areas furthest away from your heart. This also removes dead skin cells and promotes healthier skin.

Step 6

Target your problem areas with weight training exercises. Perform squats, leg presses, step-ups, lunges and ab crunches to boost your metabolism and to tone up your muscles. Aim for three to four sets and 10 to 12 reps of each exercise. Work out two to three times a week.

Step 7

Engage in aerobic activity to burn fat and reduce your overall weight. Do something that appeals to you such as jogging, biking, elliptical training, rowing, stair climbing, jumping rope or cardio kick boxing. Work out for at least 30 minutes three to four times a week.
