The FitFlop is a flip flop design that claims to have a new revolutionary fitness system built into the shoe itself. It can provide a countless number of benefits that work by stimulating different parts of the male and female anatomy to help construct and tone muscles in the calves, thighs and even buttocks. It also claims to provide the wearer with better posture through better, more contoured shoe designs. All these benefits claim to be capable of producing fitness results for both men and women through the simple act of walking.
Microwobbleboard™ technology
Microwobbleboard Technology is a trademarked invention that is at the heart of this shoe's functionality. It was engineered in 2006 by Dr. David Cook and Darren James at London South Bank University. The concept behind this design is that it is supposed to increase the amount of time the muscle is stimulated with each step. The heel section of this shoe contains a high density material. This material works to absorb up to 22 percent more shock when stepping. This has been proven to relieve joint stress. The middle section of the shoe is quite the opposite. It contains a low density material that provides the wearer with increased stability. This can increase muscle stimulation in leg muscles by up to 16 percent. The toe section is made of a material that is between the densities found in the middle and heel section. This medium density portion of the shoe allows the user to maintain speed, pace and variation between each step.
Working Proof
Studies have shown that the unique technology found in FitFlops does in fact work to improve muscle stimulation over that of a normal shoe. It can strengthen the user's feet, while also improving balance and posture. However, the claims that these differences actually can reach and stimulate the buttocks are not wholly justified. The shoe's contours and differences in density work by using small variations in design. These generally only contribute to the hind-quarters section on a relatively small scale.
