How to Remove Dark Circles From Around the Eyes

Nobody likes waking up with raccoon eyes. Dark circles around the eyes make you look tired and older than you really are. Laser treatments can stimulate the thin skin around your eyes to produce more collagen, which will thicken your skin so that veins and/or pigments do not show through as dark circles. Regular use of an eye cream will also work to thicken and tighten skin around the eyes. The effect, however, will only temporary, so be sure to use the eye cream every day. Pair a concealer with your eye cream for the best possible effect. A few simple remedies made from items likely to already be in your kitchen will also help rid you of dark circles around the eyes.

Step 1

Apply an eye cream daily to the area around your eyes. Use a gentle pressure and dab the eye cream onto the skin around your eyes. Cosmedicine Eye Specialist Essential Moisture Treatment and Bioré Daily Recharging Enliven Cooling Eye Gel are two examples of eye creams that have skin lighteners in them.

Step 2

Apply a concealer after the eye cream is absorbed into the skin. Dab the concealer, using your ring finger, starting on the darkest areas. The skin on your ring finger is smoother and therefore will be gentler on the sensitive skin around your eyes. Be sure to use concealer around the dark areas as well, and blend so as not to make the dark areas stand out. Use a natural liquid concealer without oils, talc, starch or dyes that can irritate your skin. The titanium powder in the concealer should reflect light to hide dark areas.

Step 3

Wash off the day's concealer with warm water and a gentle facial cleanser.

Step 4

Cut up a cucumber or potato into thin slices. Lie down and apply either the cucumber or potato slices to your eyelids.

Step 5

Cut open a vitamin E capsule and apply the vitamin E gel around your eyes with your fingertip before you go to bed.
