Hair loss can make you self-conscious, whether the loss is the result of genetics or from a medical condition or treatment, such as chemotherapy. There are a number of ways to cover hair loss, but wearing a wig or other hair piece is one of the oldest. Hair pieces themselves can be an embarrassing experience if they are discovered by other people, and this usually happens when the hair piece is not attached properly.
Step 1
Clean your scalp thoroughly and allow it to dry before attempting to attach the hair piece.
Step 2
Apply white clear-liner tape to the underside of the hair piece. You may reuse this tape if remains clean, but you should use new tape each time, for best results. If you are using a hair piece with a mesh or lace underside, use Proflex strips instead--the lace and mesh surfaces do not provide enough surface area for the clear-liner tape to be effective.
Step 3
Lightly spray the scalp with a specialized adhesive spray, such as Adjust-a-Bond. This will give added security for the hair piece.
Step 4
Place the hair piece onto your scalp and adjust into the correct position before the bond sets.
Step 5
Lightly mist the hair with water and spray in some conditioner to set the hairstyle and give your hair a soft and supple look.
