Side Effects From Buspar

If you suffer from the symptoms of anxiety such as irritability, fear, dizziness or tension, your doctor may prescribe an anti-anxiety medication such as BuSpar to help provide you with short-term relief. This medication works by helping balance the chemicals in your brain that may be the underlying cause of your condition. But while BuSpar may be an effective means of treating your anxiety disorder, it is accompanied by side effects that may outweigh its benefits.

Less Serious Side Effects

Less serious side effects typically subside shortly after treatment begins. These include dizziness, nausea, nervousness, drowsiness, headaches, light-headedness, anger, blurred vision, muscle pains, sensations such as numbness, burning or tingling and tremors. Don't be surprised if you find yourself becoming easily excited or confused, lack coordination, suffer from diarrhea or have a general feeling of weakness. While these are normal you need to speak to your doctor if they do not subside.

Cause for Concern

BuSpar sometimes spawns more serious side effects that include but are not limited to changes in your mood or personality, thoughts of suicide, seizures, involuntary movements of your face or body and a fast or uneven heartbeat. If you experience any of these side effects, you should contact your physician immediately.

Impaired Thinking

BuSpar alone may impair your ability to think or react properly. However when combined with alcohol or cold or allergy medications, sleeping pills, narcotic pain medications, muscle relaxants or anticonvulsants (seizure medications), your ability to react, think, remain alert and stay awake may become further impaired.

Watch for Signs of Overdose

It is possible to overdose on BuSpar; if this should occur, seek emergency medical attention. Signs of overdose include nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting, drowsiness and stomach pain.
