What are Signs of Infidelity?

Every case of infidelity has its own set of signs; however, there are some signs that are more common than others. Specific signs will vary depending upon the type of relationship your significant other is having with the other person. For example, signs of Internet infidelity usually center around the computer, while signs of physical infidelity usually center around activities and phone calls.

Routine Changes

A person who is having an affair may offer to run errands alone. He may start to say he has to work late or early. He may suddenly develop new hobbies or have business dinners more often than normal. This time may be used to contact the person with whom he is having an affair. He may start going to the gym or suddenly seem to care more about his appearance.

Secretive Phone Usage

Stepping into another room to talk when her phone rings is a sign of infidelity, as is getting frequent text messages that must be returned immediately. It may be that the person she is cheating with doesn't know that she has another relationship, or the two of them may have had a preset time to call, but she was unable to get away.

Out-of-the-Ordinary Computer Use

Spending more time than usual on the computer may mean that your significant other is having an affair. He may hide the computer screen from you or click off of tabs when you come near him. Passwords may be changed and the history of visited websites may be deleted.

Relationship Changes

You may notice that your significant other isn't interested in sex anymore. In fact, she may not seem interested in your relationship at all. A person who once wanted to spend time talking with you or go on spontaneous trips may not be interested in those things anymore. She may not tell you she loves you any more. She may not be willing to hold hands, kiss, snuggle or be seen in public with you.

Finding Fault

The cheater may begin to mentally compare you to the person he is having the affair with, which can lead to him criticizing you more than normal. He may fuss about things such as how you do the dishes, the food you cook or the clothes you wear.

Missing Money

Because a person who is having an affair usually wants to shower the person with whom she is cheating with gifts, you may notice that money is missing from bank accounts. Your spouse may suddenly seem to need more money for daily expenses. Credit-card balances may rise. She may try to intercept the mail so you don't see the cell-phone bills or credit-card bills.
