Acne can erupt on any part of the body, including the chest, back, neck and face. When acne appears on the back, it can be especially difficult to clear due to the awkward proximity of the breakouts. Lack of proper care can lead to scarring and skin discolorations on the back. In order to effectively treat acne scarring that remains on the back, it is important to utilize a simple back scratcher to soften the acne scars, exfoliate the dead skin and rebuild new skin cells on the back.
Step 1
Soften acne scars on the back by applying a non-pore-clogging oil, such as olive oil. In order to apply the olive oil to the skin, attach a small washcloth to the end of a back scratcher with a rubber band. Soak the washcloth in olive oil and spread the oil onto the back using the back scratcher. Allow the oil to sit on the skin for at least 15 minute to soften and loosen dead skin and scarred tissues. Once the allotted time has passed, lay back in a hot bath for 10 minutes, allowing the hot water to completely cover the back area. Use another washcloth to wipe off the olive oil. Repeat twice per day.
Step 2
Exfoliate the dead and scarred skin cells by applying a mildly abrasive substance utilizing the back scratcher. Attach a fresh washcloth to the end of the back scratcher using a rubber band. Soak the washcloth in water, then pour onto it 3 Tbsp. of baking soda. Drizzle an additional 1 tsp. of water onto the baking soda to form a paste. Apply the paste to the back area using the back scratcher, massaging the baking soda in gently. After 3 minutes, rinse off the area with water. Repeat once per day.
Step 3
Rebuild new skin cells by applying a lemon juice toner, which is high in vitamin C. Vitamin C supports the skin in producing new skin cells and can aid the skin in sloughing off scarred tissue more rapidly. Attach a fresh washcloth to the end of the back scratcher using a rubber band. Soak the washcloth in concentrated lemon juice, which can be found in any supermarket. Spread the lemon juice liberally around the back using the back scratcher and allow to air dry. Repeat 2 times per day.
