For some men, baldness is not only a deep-rooted fear, but a harsh reality. Balding men have several options, and you may have considered them all at some point. The least expensive and fastest solution is to buy a wig or toupee, depending on the degree of hair loss. Both require a special glue to keep them on your head and help them look more natural.
Step 1
Cleanse and shave the area where you will be placing the hairpiece. Removing dirt and oils will add to the effectiveness of your adhesive and help prevent slipping.
Step 2
Place your hairpiece inside out on a flat surface, such as a table. Apply a thin strip of adhesive around the hairline of the hairpiece and thin strips along the vertical and horizontal lines of the piece. If a brush is included with your adhesive, use the brush to apply it.
Step 3
Allow the adhesive to dry for a couple of hours or overnight. You must never place wet adhesive directly on your skin or hair as this poses a threat of skin tears when removing the hairpiece.
Step 4
Place the hairpiece on your head, making sure that it is even with your existing hairline and that it looks natural. Press down on the hairpiece to secure it and prevent slipping.
Step 5
Add additional adhesive if you feel that the hairpiece is not snug and feels like it may slip. Allow to dry. Once your hairpiece is comfortable to you and you are confident that it will stay in place, then you are ready to go.
Tips and Warnings
- Always remove your wig before showering, sports, swimming or sleeping as wigs are fragile and require gentle care to make them last.
