Zumba is a relatively popular type of exercise routine for people who like (or want to learn) to dance a variety of Latin moves such as the salsa, merengue and samba. Zumba videos keep people moving, are challenging and promote exercise of all body areas, as well as offering an up-beat cardio workout designed to shed calories and raise the metabolism. Zumba is taught in many gyms but is also available on VHS and DVD.
Zumba Basics
Before trying any other videos, people should rent or purchase the Zumba Basics video or DVD, which offers instructions on the basic moves included in Zumba dance and exercise classes. Exercisers will become accustomed to the type of music (Latin and International), the tempo (mostly fast) and how to put the moves to the music.
Zumba 20-Minute Express
Zumba Fitness 20-Minute Express offers beginners or advanced exercisers a quick, high-paced and active cardio workout that lasts about 15 minutes, with a brief introduction and warm-up period.
Zumba Sculpt and Tone
Sculpt & Tone Zumba is popular with those who have mastered the basic steps and want to focus on toning and strengthening muscles. Exercisers can purchase the toning sticks used throughout the video or DVD, or other aids such as 2-lb. wrist weights, or nothing at all.
Cardio Party
Zumba Cardio Party offers a blast of upbeat rhythms and plenty of movement to raise the heart rate and keep it up. An all-around workout, the moves are a bit challenging for those who have little or no rhythm, but the tempo and fun of listening keep the body moving even if not in tempo.
