How to Fix Your Hair Wearing a Hair Piece

Men and women alike can be unhappy when it comes to the state of their hair. Too short, too thin, strange textures and baldness can take away from the hairstyle that you really want. Luckily, even if your hair is limp and thin, you can fix your hair wearing a hair piece either as a long-term solution, or just for one night. Hair pieces have come a long way since their archaic predecessors, and it is now a mainstream way to enhance your natural look and improve and change your hair's natural state.

Step 1

Make thinning hair look thicker by applying bonded, clip-in or weaved extensions to the underside of your hair. Done by a professional or at home, a few tracks of extensions strategically placed on the underside of hair can give the illusion of thicker, more voluminous hair. Traditional weave and bonded extensions can last up to three months, while you can remove clip-in extensions each night.

Step 2

Correct baldness by wearing a full hair piece. If you match a toupee closely to your natural color and texture, it can look natural. Look for toupees made of human hair, which you adhere with a stick-on or liquid adhesive for greater security.

Step 3

Fix shortened hair or a bad haircut with longer extensions. Even if your hairstylist was too ambitious with the amount that you asked her to cut off, bonded or weaved extensions are a good choice for a semi-permanent solution. They can fix your hair while you wait for your natural hair to grow back in.

Step 4

Change boring, everyday hairstyles for the weekend by using a colored, clip-in hair piece. Choose a bold streak of color in red, pink or purple, and clip it into the underside of your hair. A quick flash of color will peek out as you move around, and once the weekend is over, you can easily remove it.

Step 5

Wear a full wig for different occasions, such as a change in pace, extreme and sudden hair loss due to chemotherapy, or a drastic change in hair style, color and texture. Choose natural human hair wigs that you can style easily, and change them up as necessary.
