How to Get Silky Soft Skin

Your skin is constantly exposed to innumerable pollutants such as smog, cigarette smoke, chemicals from the food you eat and the products you use. These pollutants can cause your skin to look wrinkled, rough and dry. The natural aging process and disease can also affect the condition of your skin. Luckily, there are several methods you can use to get the silky, soft skin you want.

Step 1

Hydrate your body by drinking 64 oz. of water every day. Drinking enough water will prevent your skin from sagging and drying. Eliminate unhealthy liquids which can drain water content from your body. These include sugary sodas, coffee and all alcoholic beverages.

Step 2

Avoid eating unhealthy junk foods such as sugary pastries and fried foods. These types of foods are high in saturated fat and can rob your body of vital nutrients. Give your body minerals, antioxidants and vitamins from vegetables and fruits. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables will make your skin appear youthful and soft.

Step 3

Use a gentle moisturizing soap bar or liquid soap when you bathe. When selecting a moisturizing soap, look for one that contains natural ingredients, such as milk and honey. You can find these types of soaps at health food stores. Avoid using antimicrobial or glycerin soaps, because these can remove your skin's natural moisture and cause dryness.

Step 4

Apply cocoa butter lotion to your skin after bathing and before going to bed every day. Cocoa butter can easily penetrate your skin to lubricate, moisten and soften your skin naturally. Cocoa butter is more effective with vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant. Palmer's cocoa butter lotion and Vaseline cocoa butter are some cocoa butter lotions that contain this skin nourishing vitamin.
