4 Ways to Dress for Rock Climbing

1. Rock-Climbing Shirts

When you are planning a rock-climbing trip, you will need to know what kind of weather to expect on your trip. The weather can vary a great deal in the mountains. Therefore, there are a few different types of rock-climbing shirts. One can wear a short-sleeve shirt for rock climbing in the warmer climates and a long-sleeve shirt for rock climbing in the colder climates. The most important thing to remember when purchasing a rock-climbing shirt is that it must be able to keep you dry, warm and comfortable. Most rock-climbing shirts are tight fitting so that the shirt does not snag easily on the rocks.

2. Rock-Climbing Pants

Shorts are the ideal pants when one is rock climbing on a warm, sunny day. Some rock climbers prefer to wear long pants to prevent their knees from getting scraped up or cut while climbing on the rocks. However, long pants can restrict movement when attempting to maneuver up the side of the rocks.

3. Rock-Climbing Shoes

These shoes have a sticky rubber sole and a sticky rubber part that surrounds the entire shoe. This is so the shoes will have excellent grip and friction when climbing. When buying rock-climbing shoes, one must be cautious when trying them on. Rock-climbing shoes must fit the foot perfectly. They must be snug but not too tight. A loose-fitting rock-climbing shoe can be dangerous. Some rock climbers actually wear a rock-climbing shoe that one to two sizes smaller than their normal street shoes. Most rock climbers will not wear socks, or they will wear very thin socks when they wear their rock-climbing shoes.

4. Essential Rock-Climbing Equipment

In addition to the shirt, pants and shoes, there are other things that are very essential to rock climbing. The helmet is a must. The helmet protects the head from falling objects and protects the head from bumps and bangs during a fall. Gloves are ideal for winter rock climbing. They also help protect the hands while rock climbing. A rock-climbing belt is also essential for those rock climbers who want to carry things while climbing. A rock-climbing belt allows the rock climber to hang things from the belt that would be needed during climbing.
