Whether you're trying to grow out a bad hair cut or simply restore your once thick head of hair, a few simple tricks and the right hair products will give you the results you want to see in the mirror. Certain shampoos can thicken your hair. Products like Rogaine with minoxidil can stop the hair loss that thinned out your hair and help you to grow thick hair once again. Even yoga can speed up hair growth, as the poses that put you upside down or place your head below your heart will send an increased amount of blood to your hair follicles to stimulate growth.
Step 1
Use 2 percent Rogaine for women or 5 percent Rogaine for men. Women can increase the strength if their doctor recommends it. Apply Rogaine to dry hair. Use your fingertips to put the Rogaine directly onto your scalp and then massage it into your hair everywhere that your hair looks thin.
Step 2
Give your hair a good 50 strokes with your brush each morning. Flip your head over and brush from root to tip, smoothing your hair after each stroke of the brush to prevent static. Brushing your hair will increase circulation and add volume.
Step 3
Wash your hair every other day to spare essential oil loss. Use a volumizing shampoo with wheat proteins or niacin, both of which have been shown to make your individual hairs thicker.
Step 4
Use a volumizing conditioner after you shampoo. You can also use the conditioner on non-shampooing days after you rinse your hair. Conditioner will not rob your hair of necessary oils.
Step 5
Take yoga classes or do some inverted poses at home daily. Try the supported shoulder stand pose, if approved by your physician. Place your buttocks about a foot from a wall and lie down. Use the wall to walk your legs up so that you can lift your legs and hips off of the floor. Place your hands on your hips to hold yourself in place. Rest only on your head, neck and upper back, but not completely on your neck. Try to raise yourself up so that your legs are off of the wall and your body is straight up like a candle. Breathe in and out through your nose. Get help from an instructor if you have any doubts that you are doing this pose correctly or if you experience pain. Place a blanket or folded towel under your neck and shoulders for more comfort.
