When swimming season rolls around, you'll probably want to remove back hair. Although men tend to have more hair than women, women are not exempt. If you have this non life threatening condition, there are things you can do to remove it. The best options are really a matter of preference.
Razors
Shaving is the simplest way to removing back hair. It's the most common method men use, and it usually takes an assistant. The hair is trimmed down with electric shears, and then the skin is washed and left wet. Shaving cream is then applied and the hair is shaved off with a new razor. Flexible tri-blades are often used to get a closer shave. This method can keep you hair free for a few days before stubble starts to grow back.
Wax
Waxing can be done at home with a kit or at a salon. Warm wax is applied to the skin with a spatula and it is left to cool and harden. A durable piece of cloth is then flattened out over top of the wax and it is yanked off in a fast, downward motion. Waxing can be painful, but it can keep you hair free for several weeks.
Depilatories
Depilatories come in the form of aerosols, gels and creams. They are applied to the skin after it has been warmed with a hot towel or water, and then left on for five or more minutes. It is during this time that the active chemicals dissolve the keratin inside the hair shaft. The cream and hair is then wiped off with a washcloth or towel. Depilatories can keep you hair free for up to two weeks.
Lasers
Laser hair removal is done at a professional facility. A laser is shot down on your skin where it targets melanin--the substance that gives your hair its color. When the follicles get hit with this laser, they die and, as a result, the hair falls out. This can keep you hair-free for several months or up to a year, after multiple treatments.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a procedure that is done by a licensed technician. A small needle is inserted into your hair follicle and a charge of electricity is then sent to the tip. The hair root is killed and the hair falls out. This can be a permanent hair removal solution after several treatments.
Tweezers
When you have only a small patch of hair on your back, you can use tweezers to pluck them out. This is done by grasping the hair close to the skin and pulling it straight out in a smooth, continuous motion. This method can keep you hair-free for one to two months.
