How to Grow Your Hair Fast

Most people's hair grows up to half an inch per month, says Dr. George Michael in an interview with Longhairlovers.com. A poor diet can slow down the process, and getting the recommended daily amount of nutrients can increase the speed of hair growth. Increased blood flow to the scalp will mean that these essential nutrients will reach your hair follicles. Also, there are strategies you can use to keep your hair from breaking or shedding, which would increase the amount of time it would take to grow your hair out to your desired length.

Step 1

Eat foods rich in B vitamins, such as egg yolks, green leafy vegetables, legumes, peas, beans, wheat, sunflower seeds and nuts, as recommended by an American Chronicle article by Dr. Garima Sancheti Acharyaand entitled "Diet for Healthy Hair." Dr Nicole Sundene says that the B vitamins are crucial for hair growth in her Kitchen Table Magazine article called "How to Grow Your Hair Super Fast." She suggests taking a daily multivitamin.

Step 2

Spend some time upside down. Dr. Sundene says that handstands and yoga poses like downward facing dog increase blood circulation to your head, stimulating growth. Use an inversion table or gravity boots to hang upside down if yoga and gymnastics aren't your thing. Hang your head over the side of your bed or use a couch a few times a day if you prefer.

Step 3

Include flax in your diet. Grind flax seeds and mix one to three tablespoons of ground flax seeds into dishes or smoothies, as recommended by Dr. Sundene in her "How to Grow Hair Super Fast" article. Flax seeds can be mixed into cereal, oatmeal, and soups or sprinkled onto salads.

Step 4

Grow out your bangs. Part your bangs to the left to grow them out, as recommended by Dr. George Michael, an expert in growing hair. Dr. Michael says that hair will fall out faster if it is layered. He also says that the longer your hair is, the less hair you will lose.

Step 5

Get your hair cut every couple of months, as recommended by Dr. Sundene. Frequent trims do not make your hair grow faster, according to an article in Good Housekeeping called "10 Common Hair-Care Myths." Trimming off split ends will make your hair look nicer but if you get them snipped off every few weeks your hair will not get a chance to grow longer.
