If you have wrinkles, chances are you're interested in finding products that can help reduce their appearance. Several factors can contribute to the development of wrinkles including aging, smoking and sun exposure. If certain products are unable to remove your wrinkles, you may want to consider meeting with a dermatologist to discuss your options.
Retinoids
Retinoids are derived from vitamin A and can be applied to the skin to reduce not only wrinkles, but smooth out rough patches, as well. Preparations containing vitamin A are available in both prescription and over-the-counter creams and lotions. The retinoid known as tretinoin is an FDA-approved topical treatment for wrinkles and sold under the brand name Retin-A. Retin-A is available only through prescription from your doctor.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids
Alpha hydroxy acids are derived from fruit and remove dead cells from the skin's surface. This can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other fine lines upon the face. Alpha hydroxy acids may also stimulate the production of collagen. Collagen is responsible for the skin's suppleness. Several over-the-counter anti-wrinkle products containing alpha hydroxy acids are available.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C can be purchased as a topical product in order to help remove wrinkles. When applied to the skin, it can improve collagen production and protect the skin from harmful UV rays that can cause more wrinkles to appear. Topical vitamin C can be obtained through a prescription or over-the-counter. Prescription formulas will have a much higher concentration than the OTC versions.
