Dark circles and puffiness under the eyes can give you the appearance of looking older and exhausted. There are numerous causes for this condition, including fatigue, allergies, sun exposure, aging and smoking. Through product use and changing some lifestyle choices, you can get rid of puffiness and dark circles around the eyes. If the problem persists, you may want to speak to a doctor to go over your options.
Step 1
Wear sunscreen while outside. Make sure you apply sunscreen protection under your eyes to keep them protected from sun damage. Sun damage can cause dark circles and puffiness as well as worsen the condition. You can use a sun block lotion or a moisturizer with built-in sun protection.
Step 2
Place a pair of cold cucumber slices on your eyes. Cucumbers can calm puffiness and reduce the appearance of dark circles. Place the slices on the eyes for 15-minute intervals daily.
Step 3
Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause you to retain water and for different areas of the body to appear puffy, including under the eyes. Aim to drink at least six to eight glasses of water per day.
Step 4
Apply a vitamin K-based cream under the eyes every evening. Before bed, you can use a cold cream with vitamin K as one of its active ingredients. Vitamin K can be applied topically to get rid of dark circles. Some brand examples include Vivierskin Dark Circle Diminishing Cream and Vita-K Solution Professional Dark Circles.
Step 5
Aim to get plenty of sleep every night. Lack of sleep can lead to dark circles and puffiness. If possible, try to get at least seven to eight hours of shut-eye per evening.
