Warming massage oils deepen relaxation during massage or add an element of pleasure in intimate massage. These oils heat up as they mix with the body's natural temperature, giving a pleasant warm sensation and relaxing the muscles. Scents in the oils provide an aromatherapy treatment to help further relieve stress or anxiety, although some scents induce arousal and excitement.
Step 1
Pour 4 cups essential oil, such as olive, grapeseed or coconut, into a small saucepan or double boiler.
Step 2
Add 2 cups dried herbs. The type of herbs depends on your preference and intended use for the massage oil. Examples include lavender for relaxation, rose for romance and arousal, or orange peel for energy.
Step 3
Mix the herbs and oil well, and place the saucepan over a larger pan of heating water if you're using two standard saucepans instead of a double boiler.
Step 4
Heat the mixture on low for two to three hours to eliminate impurities and to allow the oil to infuse with the herbs.
Step 5
Remove the oil from heat, and allow it to cool for 30 minutes. Once it is cooled, pour the oil through cheesecloth into a jar to strain it.
Step 6
Shake the oil well, and store it in a dark, cool place until you are ready to use it. Shake oil before each use.
