Rose oil is an essential oil extracted from rose petals. It is commonly used in fragrance products, such as perfumes and air fresheners. But rose oil also has several additional uses outside of its aroma qualities. It is used as a natural home supplement for massages and skin health, and it's also used as a natural medicine. Rose oil is one of the more popular essential oils because of its versatility.
Step 1
Use it in an air freshener. Whether it's potpourri or a bamboo stick freshener, rose oil releases a subtle aroma that lasts a long time and doesn't overpower. If you are using the rose oil in a mister, add five or six drops of oil to the mister solution.
Step 2
Mix rose oil with almond oil or another carrier oil and use it in massages, baths and showers. The aromas are relaxing and are believed by some herbal therapists to improve circulation, organ function and to help cleanse your body of toxins. Rose oil is applied directly to the skin in a massage, into the bath water for a long soak and onto a soft cloth in the shower.
Step 3
Use it in a hot compress. Rose oil has relaxing qualities that can help relieve discomfort when dealing with joint pain, particularly pain resulting from inflammation.
Step 4
Mix it into skin lotion or moisturizer. If you have inflammation or are struggling to control the visible effects of herpes or eczema, rose oil can help alleviate the outbreaks and swelling. Add a few drops to a nickle-sized dab of cream.
