When the eyes are puffy, it can make the complexion appear more sallow and sunken. The swelling around the eyes can cast a shadow underneath the eyes, and cause the face to look tired and fatigued. Luckily, there are ways to help eliminate under-eye puffiness that will allow the face to appear more refreshed and rested. Applying these treatments in succession every morning will help the eyes maintain a tighter, more youthful look.
Step 1
Calm puffy eyes by applying cold to the eyes. Place an ice cube into a thin washcloth, and place the wrapped ice cube underneath a closed eye. Wrap a second ice cube and place it underneath the other eye. After the eyes are closed, make sure to look upwards when placing the ice cubes on the eyes so that the coldness from the ice is applied mainly to the puffy area of the eyes. Leave the wrapped ice cubes on the eyes for at least five minutes, then remove them. Pat the eye area dry with a soft towel if any moisture remains on the eyes. Ice can be applied to the eye area once per day.
Step 2
Calm puffy eyes by applying black tea bags to the eyes. Soak two black tea bags in cold water, then squeeze the bulk of the water out using the fingers. Place a tea bag under each eye, and tilt the head upward to help them stay on the eyes without falling off. After 10 minutes, remove the black tea bags and rinse off the area with cold water. Pat the eyes dry with a soft towel. Black tea contain tannins which help reduce inflammation when applied to the skin. Black tea bags can be applied to the eye area once per day.
Step 3
Calm puffy eyes by applying cucumber slices to the eyes. Cut two 1/8-inch-thick slices of refrigerated cucumber. Looking upward, close the eyes and place the cucumber slices onto the puffy areas. Allow the cucumber slices to remain on the eyes for at least 15 minutes, then remove them and let the skin air dry. Cucumber reduces inflammation, and can be applied to the eye area once per day to help diminish eye puffiness.
