Brown spots, also called liver spots, form on the hands, arms and face. They are produced as part of the aging process, due to the breakdown melanin, the pigment that allows us to develop a tan and adds color to the skin. The spots form as a result of sun damage which occurred years earlier. Sometimes they can be the result of nutritional deficiencies, so it's best to have them checked out if you are concerned. Age spots usually form on the hands, face and neck and are usually not serious, but some people dislike the look of the spots finding them somewhat unsightly. There are a few tricks you can do to make age spots fade away.
Step 1
Chop an onion finely and place the pieces in cheese cloth. Twist the cheese cloth and onion over a bowl, squeezing the juice of the onion into the bowl. Discard the remains of the onion and cheese cloth.
Step 2
Add 1 part onion juice to 1 part organic apple cider vinegar.
Step 3
Soak up a bit of the mixture with a cotton ball and apply it to the age spots directly.
Step 4
Repeat this once or twice a day until the spots are gone, which should take about six weeks.
Step 5
Mix 1 part lemon juice into the apple cider vinegar and onion juice mixture to speed up the process.
Step 6
Use fresh horseradish root to add to help the process along, suggests Grannymed.com.
Step 7
Grate a 4-inch piece of fresh horseradish into ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar and allow the mixture to sit for two weeks in the refrigerator. Shake it daily.
Step 8
Strain the mixture after two weeks and keep the liquid. Apply this mixture to brown spots with a cotton ball three times a day until you see results.
Tips and Warnings
- Alternate applying the two mixtures throughout the day and apply at night before retiring to remove brown spots.
- If your skin is sensitive, allow the juice mixture containing the lemon to dry before going into the sunlight. Sunlight can cause sensitivities to skin exposed to acids. The information offered here is for educational purposes and is not meant to replace medical advice.
