As you age, your skin loses its original elasticity and lucidity. Discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles begin to manifest, causing your skin to appear dull and lifeless. In addition, your skin is constantly bombarded by the artificial chemicals you consume from the foods you eat, environmental pollutants and stress. There are several different remedies available to achieve healthy, youthful looking skin.
Step 1
Use a good facial cleanser every morning to rejuvenate your skin. There are a variety facial cleansers you can choose and buy at your local drugstores. High-quality facial cleansers include those offered by Neutrogena and Oil of Olay. Always read the directions that accompany these cleansers before using them.
Step 2
Use a high-quality exfoliating cream to help rejuvenate your skin. These potent skin creams remove the surface layer of dead skin cells and gradually replace them with new cells when used as instructed. There are a number of exfoliating creams at your local drugstore. Ask the pharmacist to assist you in choosing the best exfoliating cream for your skin type.
Step 3
Use moisturizing lotion on your skin after exfoliating it. An all-natural moisturizer containing shea butter or aloe vera is preferable. These lotions are able to penetrate deep into your skin, preventing and treating fine lines and wrinkles while keeping your skin moist. When buying moisturizing lotions, make sure they don't contain any fragrances, because these can cause allergic reactions, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Step 4
Take a multivitamin every day to help internally rejuvenate your skin. Vitamins are rich in antioxidants that can help keep your skin smooth and supple while protecting it from the effects of cigarette smoke and other environmental pollutants.
Step 5
Rejuvenate your skin by applying sunblock every day. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from the sun's powerful ultraviolet rays. Sunblock is available in the form of creams, lotions and sprays. Always buy sunblock with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 35 and above. Apply it 1 hour before going outside and reapply it every 4 hours or when you start to sweat a lot such as after exercising.
