Acne scars can appear on the skin when acne pustules are repeatedly popped, causing damage to the skin. This skin damage appears as discolored spots that are more tough and dry than the surrounding areas. It is possible to help acne scars disappear more quickly, which involves loosening the skin with a non-pore-clogging oil, scrubbing away the loosened skin with a natural exfoliant, and applying a compress that is high in vitamin C, which encourages new skin growth.
Step 1
Loosen acne scars by applying a skin-softening oil that will not clog pores, such as olive oil. Pour 1 tbsp. olive oil into the hands, and rub the hands together to distribute the oil evenly. Smooth the oil onto the skin, using the fingers to massage the oil onto the areas of scarring. After five minutes, allow the oil to remain on the skin to further soften the scarred tissue. Fill a bowl with almost boiling water, and lean the head 12 inches over the bowl to let the steam billow over the skin. After five minutes, wipe off the oil with a moistened washcloth. An olive oil treatment can be used on the skin once per day.
Step 2
Scrub away the loosened skin by applying a natural exfoliant, such as baking soda. Pour 2 tbsp. baking soda into a bowl, then drizzle on 1 tsp. water. Spread the mixture onto the skin, and use the fingertips to move it around in small, circular motions. This buffs away skin that has been softened and loosened by the olive oil facial. Avoid scrubbing the skin too hard; it could cause redness and irritation. After two minutes, rinse off the area well with water. A baking soda scrub can be used on the skin every other day.
Step 3
Build new skin cells by applying a compress high in vitamin C, such as lemon juice. Soak five cotton pads in concentrated lemon juice, then place the pads onto the skin. Allow the lemon juice pads to remain on the skin for at least 10 minutes, then remove them to let the skin naturally dry. The vitamin C in the lemon juice supports the skin in creating new cells, which can significantly improve the skin tone and increase the skin's clarity. Use a vitamin C compress up to three times per week.
