Baggy eyes can be caused by a few different factors, including aging, lack of sleep, genetics and allergies. When your eyes appear baggy and swollen, it can cause your face to look tired, and your entire complexion to appear exhausted or sickly. Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can take to reduce inflammation around your eyes, allowing them to look less baggy and puffy. By following these steps, you can make your face look more youthful and rested.
Black Tea Bags
Step 1
Place two black tea bags into cool water, and squeeze out the excess water with your fingers. Black tea contains tannins and caffeine, which reduce inflammation and act as a decongestant to the eye area.
Step 2
Press a tea bag onto each eye, focusing on the area under your eye, which tends to be more baggy.
Step 3
Allow the black tea bags to sit on your eyes for at least 10 minutes, then rinse the area well with water.
Step 4
Pat your skin dry with a towel. Black tea bags can be used to reduce eye bagginess once per day.
Cucumber Slices
Step 1
Refrigerate a cucumber for at least 1 hour, then slice off 2 slices, each 1/8 of an inch wide. Cucumber slices diminish swelling and inflammation in the skin.
Step 2
Place a cucumber slice over each eye, leaving them there for at least 15 minutes.
Step 3
Use your fingers to gently press the cucumber slices onto your eyes if you feel as though the cucumber is not touching the areas that are the most baggy and puffy. Once you remove the cucumbers, you can either allow your eyes to dry naturally, rinse off the area with water, or pat the area dry with a towel. Cucumber slices can be used to treat puffy eyes once per day.
Ice Cubes
Step 1
Wrap two ice cubes in a thin cloth to prevent your skin from becoming too cold. Ice significantly reduces inflammation on the skin.
Step 2
Place the ice cubes onto your closed eyes, one cube per eye.
Step 3
Let the cubes sit on your eyes for at least five minutes, then remove the ice cubes.
Step 4
Pat the area dry with a towel is any moisture is seen. Ice cubes can be used to reduce inflammation on your eyes once per day.
