Procedures to Remove Deep Wrinkles

When you develop fine lines, treatment is typically less aggressive, including moisturizing creams and microdermabrasion. To get rid of deep wrinkles, consult a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist for assistance. At-home treatments are less likely to resolve deep wrinkles.

Fillers

One of the least invasive treatments for deep wrinkles is injectable fillers. These do not permanently remove deep wrinkles, but fillers can reduce wrinkles' appearance for several months. Collagen and other fillers plump up the skin. Treatment every few months is required to maintain the results; swelling and redness are likely after the treatment.

Laser Resurfacing

During this procedure, a laser destroys the top layer of the skin to promote collagen production. As the skin heals, a smoother and tighter layer of skin should appear. You might need several treatments to get rid of deeper wrinkles, and results could take months to appear, because the skin needs time to heal. Irritation, redness and scabbing can occur after treatments.

Dermabrasion

With dermabrasion, also known as skin planing, a rotating brush moves against the skin surface where deep wrinkles are present. The surface layers of skin are removed, and new layers take their place. The skin is likely to remain red and irritated for a few weeks. Prepare to wait several months for full results.

Face Lift

Face lifts are one of the most invasive types of procedures used to eliminate deep wrinkles. However, the results are the longest-lasting--from five to 10 years. During the procedure, excess facial and neck fat are removed, and the muscles in the area are tightened. Bruising and swelling after the surgery might take weeks to disappear.
