Many people who want to lose weight or exercise may not necessarily want to do it in front of a bunch of strangers. Utilizing workout DVDs and videos is a popular method of benefiting from fitness workouts and expertise in such situations. Some of the most popular exercise or fitness videos are listed in fitness magazines. Fitness Magazine offers their best workouts for a variety of exercise styles, including but not limited to cardio, Pilates and ab workouts.
Amy Bento: Hi/Low Xtreme
Rated as number one by Fitness Magazine online, this exercise workout combines the best of plyometrics (lower body exercise that involves movement such as jumping or running or walking in place) and aerobics, which offer cardio benefits and calorie burn.
Jillian Michaels: Complete Workout for Beginners
Jillian is the epitome of the tough, no nonsense exercise guru/motivator. Utilizing a cycle of circuit training and repetitions, the workout is designed for those new to cardio workouts but still forces the individual to push to the limit. Resistance bands and light weights (3 to 5 pounds) are optional, but beginners may want to try this one a few times before adding weights to the workout.
Jari Love: Get Ripped 1,000
Certainly not for beginner exercisers, Jari Love's Get Ripped series are marketed as burning up to 1,000 calories, using heavy dumbbells (10 to 15 pounds) in a non-stop workout that lasts just over an hour. Beginners can certainly try the workout, but be sure to take breaks and don't use weights. Mixing cardio, step and weight-lifting moves, this workout will certainly get you ripped in a relatively short period of time.
Pilates Core Challenge
Pilates is a non-impact form of exercise that utilizes a combination of Yoga and isometric (position-holding exercise where body doesn't move but muscles contract) exercise that focuses on strengthening core or abdominal and torso muscles. Easy on the joints, this workout lasts about an hour and focuses on strength building moves and positions.
Denise Austin: Boot Camp Total Body Blast
Denise Austin has been around for years, offering a variety of exercise videos to meet just about any need. Her boot camp workout offers a mixture of strength training, cardio and stretching in about an hour (for all three) or 20-minute segments if you decide to break them down into individual workouts.
10 Minute Solutions: Blast Off Belly Fat
Focusing on the abdominals, this workout offers focused exercises for the upper and lower abdomen, as well as crunches and twists that attack those stubborn love handles. The video is broken down into 10-minute sessions for those who want to add additional abdominal exercises to their regular workouts, or those who are pressed for time who just want to focus on one body part.
Dance off the Inches
Fitness Magazine rates Dance off the Inches, Sizzling Salsa as among the ten best for an invigorating, exciting, fun and effective cardio workout. Lasting just short of an hour, the salsa dancing offers fast-paced yet fun moves that focus on the torso. You may need to watch this one a few times before you memorize all the steps, but this one will keep the boredom away.
Yoga
Another low-impact type of exercise, Yoga is not only great for stretching and toning muscles without impact on the joints, the Perfect in Ten Yoga workout offers three 10-minute sessions of Yoga moves and positions designed to focus on core muscles and balance.
Keli Roberts: Time Saver Workouts - A.S.A.P.
The A.S.A.P. (Abdominals, Spine and Posture) workout by Kelly Roberts offers a variety of stability ball exercise moves and positions to work on core strength as well as posture. The workout is relatively short at about 30 minutes, but for those who are new to the stability or Pilates ball, this workout will provide a good foundation for more complicated moves or exercises later on.
NYC: A New You Coming
Kelly Coffey-Meyers offers a new and fairly intense cardio workout with her NYC A New You Coming that keeps the heart rate up and doesn't offer much time to rest in between moves, keeping the metabolism burning the fat away. At just about an hour, the routines offer both upper and lower body moves that strengthen and tone legs, abs, thighs and arms.
