Program Description
Stress reduction is particularly important in our modern-day, fast-paced society. If you find yourself struggling with energy, lack of sleep, relationship strain or mood swings, stress may very well be the culprit. To achieve happiness at your workplace and home life, personal well-being and balance through relaxation must be addressed.
Actions
1. Examine your diet. Are you consuming complex carbs, lean proteins, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats? If your diet is high in saturated fats or sugars, make adjustments toward healthier eating. A healthy diet can ease stress by increasing energy, overall wellness and emotional satisfaction.
2. Examine your sleep habits. Are you getting at least 6 - 8 hours of sleep per night? If not, reserve time in the evening to calm yourself through a bubble bath, stretching or reading. Aim to go to bed at a reasonable hour each night, without varying your sleeping or awakening time much if possible.
3. Share your relaxation practices with close friends or family. Merely speaking about relaxation enhances consciousness of your goals. If your friend or family member has similar goals, you can hold each other accountable as you work toward them, increasing likelihood of success.
4. Try a variety of relaxation techniques, such as bubble baths, meditation, yoga, reading, listening to soft music or hiking. If you do not enjoy your relaxation practices, you will likely not find them relaxing!
5. Make relaxation a daily priority for optimal results. The more often you practice your relaxation techniques, the more routine they will be, resulting in a more relaxing overall lifestyle.
