Understanding what reduces a man's libido can allow you to better control your sex life. You may not always be in the mood for sex, and reducing his libido can get him out of the mood as well. Trying to reduce his libido on a long-term basis is not recommended since both men and women have a right to a healthy and active sex life. If you feel that your sex drive does not match your partner's, you should communicate with the person to better your time together in bed.

Step 1

Keep him up all night. Fatigue can lead to a decreased libido in a man. According to the Merck website, fatigue can temporarily reduce a man's libido. If you want to improve his libido, you should instead allow him to get at least six to eight hours of rest each night.

Step 2

Serve him a libido-busting meal. Certain foods, such as tofu, can possibly decrease a man's sex drive. According to Health Central, tofu can reduce testosterone levels in men.

Step 3

Ask him to talk to his doctor. If you both agree that you wish to decrease his libido, there are certain drugs available that can do this, according to the Ask Men website. They work by blocking androgen receptors in the body. Some brand names of these drugs include Provera and Lupron.

Tips and Warnings

  • Testicular removal does not cause the inability to have sex, but will greatly decrease a man's sex drive. This procedure is usually only done for medical reasons. If a man suffers from sexual dysfunction, he may decide that it is a good idea to reduce his libido. Request that he meet with a sex therapist to learn how to better control his sex drive.
  • Depression, anxiety and drug use are other factors that can decrease a man's libido. Do not encourage these things as a way to reduce a man's libido.
