With the wide array of stress-reduction techniques available, one thing not to stress over is which to incorporate into your life. One option is to start with the basic practice of breathing. You can do it any time, any place, and you already have everything you need to get started.
Actions
1. Set aside a few minutes a day to focus only on breathing.
2. While focusing on breathing, sit upright in a chair with your feet planted on the floor, breathing deeply and slowly.
3. When you feel a bout of anxiety or stress arise, stop and breathe slowly several times until you feel physically calm.
4. When you inhale, you should feel the lower part of your abdomen pushing outward.
5. Practice relaxed breathing during stressful daily times, such as traffic jams, before or after meals or during uncomfortable life situations.
